The agent wiped at his face, which was throbbing terribly. He'd be seeking medical attention, right after this royal mess was dealt with. He looked at the officer, shaking his head. "Man is armed and dangerous. He stole that car back in Chicago...assaulted an officer when he was pulled over for a sobriety test. We've been after him over two state lines. He's got some heavy firepower...and he's dangerous as hell. We think he's connected to six other thefts in the past month. He's affiliated with a ring out of Chicago we've been trying to eradicate for twenty years...these guys are bad news." Now, the agent could spin a web like no one else. He knew damn well the Raines boy didn't have anything to do with those thefts, but the bossman wanted the kid dead. Wanted the whole lot of the Cascade ring underground, for that matter. And had known the younger kid would be the best bet in giving him a reason to do just that. Pinning a bunch of false charges had given them the clearance to get the go ahead in press forward. The firefight had been sloppy and a mistake...no one has expected the kid to have the weapons he did. Regardless, they now had reason to search the property at Tumbler's...and with some planted evidence, the deal would be sealed.
He looked to the barowner. "I'm very sorry for the mess now, miss, and feel free to file any complaints you wish. My supervisor will investigate them thoroughly, I assure you. And he will find it was in the best interest of the city that the man be brought down...by any means necessary." There was a screech of tires as three more SUVs rounded the corner. "Now, here's the card to office you'll need to call to file any concerns you have. You will likely be able to get compensation for the damage here." He handed it to her. "Now, officer, if you'd feel comfortable, you may accompany us to the residence. That is where I am heading now." This would all be coming to an end soon, and he'd be paid very handsomely for his help is destroying what was left of a group that had left a bad taste in his boss's mouth years ago.
