I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses
For tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails
I wanna be just as close as the Holy Ghost is
And lay you down
On a bed of roses

Though he had known it would only be a matter of time before Tumbler made his presence known in the town, he hadn't quite been prepared for it when he did. He froze, looking at the the other man, then to the tall woman at his side. Here they were, Tumbler and Tori...in the flesh.

He saw Memphis stiffen at Tumbler's boisterous grand entrance, and was instantly worried for another confrontation. Angelina's witty comeback didn't satisfy him, either...he knew this had to have her at the end of her rope. Her one worded plea was the only confirmation he needed on that. His only answer to her was a gentle touch on the small of her back as he passed by her, rounding the other side of the bar. He had a feeling this was going to be a bit like standing between two bulls hellbent on a fight to the death, but he couldn't bear to hear that exhaustion Angelina's voice again. "Welcome back, Tumbler, Tori! He called, feigning a calmness he did not feel.

Nancy was in the process of hugging Tori when he approached, and that was good. He knew Memphis wouldn't attack with her in the middle. "Don't do it, Memphis. For the love of God, don't do it. Wait for the parking lot if you have to, but keep it together, okay?" He said to the older man...and then played a low card. "Dusty wouldn't have wanted it this way." Memphis had had the most experience with their old mentor, and he knew that bringing the man's name up was risky, but it was the only thing he could think of avert the danger.

When a loud voice called from the doorway, he was amazed at how quickly emotions could shift...he'd relaxed considerably from his kiss with Nancy, but hearing the bastard's voice at the doorway had him almost back at the start again. He froze, his navy eyes locking with the man standing there by the vivacious Tori.

The squeeze Nancy delivered to his hand was felt, and was perhaps the only thing that returned him to reality. He'd been entirely ready to make quick work of the distance between he and Tumbler, and make even quicker work of laying him out, if he could. Then Nancy was gone, blocking the path...and there was no way in hell he'd risk it now where chances were good she'd receive an accidental blow. ]

"Oh honey, if only I had the shot." He told Shania, his voice low and his eyes murderous. He'd stewed ten long years on what could have gone wrong, what could have happened to have caused the consequent fall out. He'd never been able to come up with anything, besides a fuck up from Tumbler. He'd been the next in line, and the one trusted to handle most operations.

Then Stan was at his side, and whining to him about keeping peace. "This don't involve you, Stanley. This...this has been a long time comin'." But then, the other man says something that almost startles him, and he glares at Stan. "Don't bring Dusty into this. Dusty'd be rolling in his grave just now if he could see..." He trailed off, thinking about what he was saying. Yes, Dusty would be upset if he'd known of the accident that caused the lock up...would have been upset to know how everything had been handled that night. But more so, the older gentleman would have been upset to see them, the way they were now. He sighed. "Damnit, Stan. Remind me to kill you later." This said, in good humor, he approached the very man he wanted to knock out.

"Well Tori, ain't you a sight for sore eyes." He gave the woman a brief hug, before settling back to meet Tumbler's green gaze. He wanted to wipe that goddamn smirk off the guy's mouth, but he stayed his hand. "Tumbler. Ever the smartass." He said, his voice only hinting at humor. "I think you know you and I need to have a conversation. A long one. If I had it my way, I'd take you out, here and now. But seein' as I got outvoted on that one...don't forget. We talk." He felt faintly proud for keeping control. He gave the other man one more warning glance before heading over to Nancy's side agaian.
