As her gaze swept the club, a molecule of Verda’s attention remained on her wolves… Her’s. They would always be her’s, She had protected, guided, and disciplined them for years, and they had followed her faithfully. Soon, she would make more hers, would reestablish herself in these lands, and she would do it with these two at her side. Cassidy wasn’t strong enough to help her as Jarek would, but she would serve her purpose. As her gaze traveled the club patrons, she let it pause, for just a brief second, on those who were of her ilk, her gaze narrowing a fraction as they returned her stare, or as some glanced away nervously. A slow, satisfied smile grew on her lips, until her gaze had traveled the entirety of the club, and she allowed it to settle back on Jarek, in time to see him smile at Cassidy. Her gaze slid to the woman, watching her flush in pleasure. Cassidy adored Jarek, always had, and their odd bond pricked at Verda’s curiosity.
A contented sigh slid from her lips, and she settled back more fully against the bench cushion. “I’m going to scout out the town some more. I want you two to stick together for a little while… Jarek..” Her dark gaze pierced his own lighter one. Her lips didn’t move, but she pushed her thoughts into his mind. She didn’t often do so, knowing a lot of her wolves hated the intrusion to their privacy. But Verda didn’t want Cassidy coming to any trouble in this town, and she likely would, submissive and pretty as she was. ”watch out for Cass… I don’t trust these wolves, or any of the vamps, and I don’t want her hurt.” She made sure the dialog was only between herself and Jarek, blocking the topic of discussion from overhearing.
