Eric growled audibly when he heard the knocking on his door. For a moment he was content to let whoever was outside stay out there, but then he remembered he was expecting a delivery. He was waiting for payment for a cloak of invisibility he had managed to procure. He gathered up a clean cloth and held it against his face where Kisa’s nails had sliced into his flesh. Three gashes which would stay with him. It wasn’t that he minded scars, but he worried what Sebastian would think. What he would assume… He’d been working so hard. For the past five years he’d been working to earn back Sebastian’s trust. But, once betrayed, Sebastian had a hard time forgetting… Thinking about the man he loved and his new blemished face, he stalked to the front door and pulled it open to see Eremis and Cas standing there. He looked at them with nothing but annoyance. “What are you doing knocking?” He asked, “You live here!”

Eric rarely openly displayed his anger. Normally, he dealt with people--even the most irritating--with a smile and gentle words. But he’d been pulled away from tending to his scratches for this. He had no idea how he was going to explain this… he sighed and then shook his head. He had been expecting money and some glass beads with certain magical properties. It seemed like he was going to have to wait a bit longer for them.

Eric hauled Eremis forward out of the street, glancing around. He seemed content that no one had followed the boys but had already begun to conjure a confusion spell in case someone was interested in his house. Tho he made sure to pull Eremis in out of the street, he left him to close the door while he turned and walked back into the room adjoining to the kitchen. “And you!” he mumbled, glancing over his shoulder at Cas. “You never knock! You just prance in wherever you damn well please…”

Eric caught himself finally, realizing that he was showing his expressions. He ran both hands through his hair and took few breaths before he pulled three mugs out of the cupboard and put them on the table before searching through his cupboards for the tea-pot. Despite his irritating and the stinging in his cheek, he was a good host. His mother had made sure of that, and when Eric had realized that Sebastian liked to be waited on and spoiled, he’d gotten into the habit. He’d stayed in practice these past five years, ignoring the fact that Eremis was capable of getting his own damn mug, and that he really just disliked Cas for no other reason then that he was energetic… always running this way and that…. Still, he could at least send the boy off with something to drink in payment for walking him home. Eric didn’t doubt that Sebastian had paid him well to be an escort, but refused to give the boy anything but a mug of Tea, since he was grumpy Sebastian hadn’t come himself.

“So… how was your first day at work.. I see you’ve already made yourself a friend..” he said, directing his attention towards Eremis, giving the boy his smiling happy face. “You could probably do better, but there are worse people out there that you could deal with, too... Speaking of whom… did either of you see Sebastian? How was he looking? Did he look thinner to you? I just ask because he always seems to be busy working…”

Smooth Eric. Real smooth. You sure covered that well. his mind grumbled irritably while he looked at the two younger men sitting at his table. He stopped speaking and hoped up out of his chair, putting a basket of air-hardened bread on the table, forgetting it had been left out and was not very good anymore. But he had needed something to draw the attention away from his inquiries of Sebastian, lest they seem too familiar.

“How about customers? Tell me about them.” Eric said. “do they pay well?”
