I whispered to Welcome,"Mom is going to be a drill sargent right now so you had better listen." My mom overheard and laughed. Once we got there she started. "Get him walking camly around the arena. Once you guys have gone around 3 times push him into a trot. Trot around 2 times then canter another 2 laps. Then pop over that 3ft jump then the 4ft one then the 5ft one. Then you can go watch the other riders." I groaned. But i did as i was told and walked off. We walked quietly around 3 times. Then i asked for a canter. "HEELS DOWN KAYLEE!" Mom yelled at me. I did as i was told and she didnt say anything after that while i warmed up Welcome. Once i was done with the work she had told me to do i walked Welcome over to the in gate. I watched the first 4 rides. Then the announcer said, "And next up is Kaylee Carter on Welcoming Committee. Kaylee Carter is the daughter of both Shayla Carter and Aaron Carter." Everyone cheered me on and i cantered a courtesy circle and headed for the first jump, a 5ft narrow brush. We cleared it with ease. Then a sharp turn towards the 5'3ft gate. We bounded over it with room to spare. 4 strides later came the 5ft swedish oxer. We clear it and make a sharp turn to the triangle. We go over the smallest point easily. Next is the descision jump. I decide to jump the right side to give me more room to set up for the bounce. We clear the right side of that jump then make a wide turn towards the bounce. We jump the first 5ft jump then landed and immediatly took off for the next 5ft jump. After that there was a long 6 strides to the 5ft plank jump. Next was a liverpool. I gave Welcome a small tap with my crop to make him go over. He hesitated the slightest before going over. Next was a sharp turn to the big part of the triangle. We jumped in then out. Next a sharp turn towards the triple bar. We cleared it and headed towards the wall. We cleared that. Now all that was left was the last 3 jumps. We headed to the triple combination strongly. We cleared the first 5ft fence. 2 stirdes then up and over the next 5'3ft jump. 3 strides and we cleared the last jump, a 5'6ft fence. We cleared the course and we had cleared the last jump which was an increadiably hard fence for this compeition. "That was Kaylee Carter and Welcoming Committee with a clear round." We troted out of the ring and watched the rest of the rides. At the end of the competion the announcement was made. "And the winner of Canada One is Kaylee Carter and Welcoming Committee from the United States Of America. First time an american has ever competed in this class AND won it. This is a history in the making day today!" I was very proud of myself. I was going back to the USA a winner of Canada One, and the first winner that was american in it. I came back into the arena and dismounted. One of the show officials threw a Canada One cooler over his back. I laughed at the look Welcome gave the official. Then i stepped up to the podium and i was handed a check for a sum of $25,000. Then i said, "It is a great honor to win this competition. I would like to thank my mom and Dana Smith for coaching me up to the level i am at. I would like to thank friends and family for being there for me. And i would like to thank my trainers for making this possible. Thank You everyone!" Then everyone cheered. This was a day that nobody would forget. I lifted the trophy with the sponser of the Canada One tournament. Then i mounted back on Welcome and galloped a victory lap. Then i troted out of the arena a winner.
