"This is Just Victory, everyone just calls him Tori though" Kelsey tells him. "He's a nice jumper, good luck at the competition" Ian tells her. "Thanks" Kelsey replies happily. Ian goes off to school his horse over some jumps and Kelsey walks Tori back over to Shayla. "Is he going to be like that in the competition too?" Shayla asks. "Nah, he'll settle down by tomorrow" Kelsey replies. "Ok, well why dont you school him through that combination over there for a little while and i'll coach you from the side. He wont have as much of a chance to get away from you in a combination" Shayla tells her. Other competitors move their horses away from Tori as Kelsey trots over to the combination. Tori tosses his head and yanks the reins excitedly as Kelsey asks for a canter. She keeps him on a circle until he is calm, then points him at the combination. Kelsey gives him an automatic release as she rises into a jumping position, not giving him a crest release so she would have more control over him. He eagerly hops over the 4'9 fence, then the 5' fence and finally the 5'3 fence, clearing them all easily. As soon as he lands from the final fence, Kelsey closes her fingers on the reins and gives him a firm half halt, then canters him on a circle. "Good job" Shayla calls. After a few more times, Tori has settled down and Kelsey cools him out. "Ok Kelsey, after you're done with Tori tack up Altitude and bring her out here. I want to see you jump her too." Shayla tells her. "Sure" Kelsey calls as the attendent opens the gate and she leads Tori out. She untacks the stallion, sponges him with warm water and puts his cooler on to walk him out. He dances on the lead and calls to the other horses, then settles down and grazes a little. When he is dry Kelsey grooms him and puts his heavy winter blanket on, then puts him in his stall. Then she gets Altitude out and grooms her. Then she tacks the bay mare up. Altidude walks quietly to the ring and Kelsey mounts her. She warms her up and then finds Shayla in the ring. She was coaching Kaylee on Welcome, who was in a bad mood and kept refusing fences. Finally Kaylee gets off and she trades horses with Shayla and Shayla gives Welcome a firm approach to the fence. When he hesitates on the take-off Shayla hits him behind her leg with her crop and he hops over the fence. She schools him over several more times until he doesnt hesistate, then lets Kaylee do the same thing. Now he jumps willingly for her and they finish on a good note. Once Altitude is warmed up, Kelsey schools her over some 5'6-6' fences. She is a bit lazy from the long trailer ride and hits a few rails, so Kelsey uses a crop on her to encourage her to jump the fences properly. She jumps with better form and clears all the obstacles, then Kelsey cools her off and they all take their horses back to the barn and take care of them before putting them away. "The horses that were just ridden are too hot to be fed, but all the others can have their grain now. Pick out their stalls before you give them more hay" Shayla instructs. Kelsey, Kaylee and Aaron immediately start working on the stalls and Shayla sets up her horse's feed in their feed stall. Once all the stalls are picked out, Aaron goes to find where to put the old bedding. Kelsey and Kaylee set up their tack stall and Shayla sweeps the isle in front of their stalls. Kelsey gets out the show packet and writes everyones classes and when they are. Kaylee's classes would be run the next day, Kelseys the day after and the Adults classes would be run over the next 2 days after Kelsey's classes. By then it is time to feed the horses. Kelsey and Kaylee feed all the horses in the barn and check over them one more time. Then Shayla says.......
