We registered these girls as U/18s, as they are U/18, although the plan was to allow them to play 3rd Grade due to a large number of U/18 girls registering. It came as a shock to see their names on the stats for the first few weeks of the comp and then they just disappeared. We obviously weren't well aware of this rule and have now found it in the 'awards eligibility' section. Could you explain the reasoning for the rule for players playing up as it is less obvious than for a player playing down, given that the other rules for eligibility would seem to cover any rorting of the awards.
