The purpose of the rule, Greg, is to encourage players to play in the grade they are registered in and not to try and "work the system". If all these players are still U18, St George-Sutherland should have registered them in 3rd grade where it was anticipated they would be playing the majority of matches. Under our rules, they still would have been eligible to play 18s even though registered in 3rd grade (2. Eligibility Rule (iii))

Please note, these U18 players will be eligible for awards (in 3rd grade) once re-grading takes place after Christmas.
