Fluoro lines make absolutely no difference I have found.
I looked at many lines for Pike and found 1 in particular that stands up well to fish and abuse.
Daiwa Tournament Mono (actually sea fishing line) is excellent for those not wanting to switch to Braid just yet. It is limp, easy to load, pre-stretched so there is little give when striking a fish (very similar to Braid in that sense), fairly cheap at 15 quid for a 1/4Lb spool (1000+yards of line) and the knot strength is brilliant. Apart from making superb deadbaiting line, it is good for lures too since the lack of line stretch allows for a nice solid action from plugs and crankbaits.
I use the same gear for Beachcasting and it almost never fails so you can imagine it will take some beating on a loch or stillwater.
I,m not saying that this is all I use. I actually opt for Daiwa Sensor line most of the time since I mostly baitfish and it is well known as a good solid cheap line.
Both lines have thier merits but if you intend on using baits AND lures, go for the Fluorosecent Tournament line. Its good.
