Subject: Love my 'over-sized' yorkie!

I've never had an indoor dog in my life and reluctantly allowed my SIL to give our three children a Yorkie for Christmas. Housetraining was no thrill but she is the perfect little house pet. She is so cute and only barks when stray dogs or cats come on our property. She is a little dreamboat. However, in reading books and magazines on the breed, care of, etc., some of these authors seem to really be down on any dog over the 7 lb. AKC size requirement. Our breeder was up front and told us our puppy is not 'show quality' and we have had her spayed and never intended to raise puppies. But, she is the perfect size for our family considering my youngest child is a toddler (gentle but still . . .) and just as deserving of love and of life as these little 3 pounders. Is anyone else out there put off by these tunnel vision show people? I've encountered some also at shows who look down their noses at 'inferior dogs.' It's really a shame. We love our little dog and she's the perfect size for us!
