unlike me, my brother wasn't deliberately boycotting the non-Mulder eps of the past two seasons. But he only saw about three-quarters of season eight and about half of season nine, because "things came up". Strangely enough no "things" had ever come up important enough to make him miss so much as a single episode during seasons 1-7.
My brother is a noromo and, being a heterosexual man, he *definitely* wasn't watching the show in order to drool over DD. But, even for X-Philes like him, the show became less of "appointment TV" and more of "catch if you happen to have a chance TV" once Mulder departed the series.
