According to my dictionary Provenance means:

Place of origin; derivation. 2. Proof of authenticity or of past ownership. Used in art works and antiques.

Therefore I think it was used to tell us that we may have originated or that the world originated on these UFO's or with their writings which supposedly document the origin of man. Move over Charles Darwin ;-)

I hope Frohike is ok--he is a cool character and unless they intend for him to come back in some supernatural form, I would think he would remain alive. Just a wierd thought--what if Frohike is Mulder's father? He at least seems to care about Mulder a whole lot more than William Mulder did, IMHO.
