I came across this URL somewhere, although now I don't remember where.
http://www.geocities.com/kencallen/ULCCF/
I also deleted the ULCCF/ in hopes that I might find out more about Ken Callen and what he believes. It worked.
I must be honest, at first I thought that True Grace Ministries, as it is called, was sound biblically. It seemed pretty right on, and I read plenty to make sure the beginning just wasn't a bunch of "sucker-you-in" hype.
But this morning as I ponder it some more, I cannot help but notice its affiliation with ULC -- and we know enough about them to make a firm statement. Then it came to me, the verse about a little leaven leavens the whole bunch. Here it is in KJV:
1Co 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is, not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
1Co 5:2 And ye are puffed up, and have, not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
1Co 5:3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath, so done this deed, judged: or, determined
1Co 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Co 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
1Co 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
Also, take a look at their banner:
Our Objective: Eternal Progression
Our Goal: A Fuller Life for Everyone
Our Slogan: To Live and Help Live
Our Tenets: 1) Freedom of Religion 2)Do That Which is Right
That seems too "loose fitting" to say it is the same as the Bible, (in fact, it sounds very New Age).
And one thing I'd like to point out: if the writer of this passage is willing to turn the offender(s) over to Satan for the destruction of their flesh, then do we not have a responsibility to expose the sin as well?
I think the real problem is that following the ULC way one can appear to be working for Christ but be doing so by their own rules, which is not only wrong - but impossible, but then there are those of us who come along and expose the lie and threaten to remove the fake mantle these people wear and show them for who they really are -- and that make s them uncomfortable at the least.
Perhaps you've heard the adage: If it walks like a duck and smells like a duck it is a duck.
Well, in this case it may walk a lot like a duck but it smells like a bunch of dirty swine.
