One by one starvation set into them, and one by one they died. Soon, Magharibi was the only one left. A kind young lioness, who had recently lost her own cubs, stumbled upon her. She allowed Magharibi to nurse from her own belly, taking care of her until she fell wounded during a hunt. She died that day, but bid that the hyena pup would feel no pain, explaining to her that a mother's love would always follow her. The pup missed her, of course, but she feels no sorrow. An odd contentness with the world around her remains far past what would be expected for one with her experiences.
