The Observer's interview with the mayor:

The mayor says some people have furnished homes here and spent $25,000 to $30,000.

Another comment from the mayor is that people should start to be more positive. He says "Besides the mistakes in the beginning, it's going quite well."

My comments are:

What difference does it make how private people spend their money? The mayor should be more concerned about public money!

The mayor may have some great ideas for PSL but it does not appear that any are in the best interest of the taxpayers of Quesnel. Spending $126,000 of new furniture is unreasonable at this time. This money should be going for projects than benefit the community, not just City Hall. Watch and see what projects are cut out of the next budget.

It will be very interesting to see the reaction of the delegates coming to Quesnel in May. I am sure they will all see what a mess this project is and laugh at what the mayor has done. Especially now that the Provincial building is almost empty and would have made a perfect city hall.

To suggest that the MP and MLA move into PSL is another one of the mayors dreams that will probably never take place. Would this be another way of the mayor trying to get some kind of control over them? With the CRD in our City Hall it gives the mayor added power. Why else would he offer them a deal that is/was not in the best interest of the taxpayers of Quesnel?

Remember Council stated that the budget process would be open and they would have a public meeting. I wonder if council members will be sitting at the table to answer questions?

I am still waiting for confimation regarding the GST input credit the city included in the revenues in their budget. From what I have learned so far the city is not entitled to the credits as they do not own the building, they do not have a lease to purchase, and their name is not on title. $400,000 less will make quite a difference.
