I'm just curious -

7 months into a term and many are already calling for a recall. I'm curions, what precisely will this achieve?

The NDP was a disaster. And just before you reach to flame me for that comment, I'm not blaming everything on the NDP or even NDP philosophies (although that played a role. Shaunessy comes to mind). That GOV'T was a disaster, regardless of the name you give them. (i'm specifically referring to the LAST NDP gov't). So we can't go back there.

It will take a bloody long time to persue, so even if it IS somehow successful it'll be only a short time before an election, which if you win recall you'd have won anyway.

If you do somehow manage to recall some of the members, then you'll still have an ineffective opposition and now the members have NO reason to listen to the concerns of your constituancy. At least right now there's a CHANCE you'll be able to open a dialogue, and you're chances go up every day (as we move closer to an election). So in other words, ANY reason for the gov't in power to listen to you will have gone up in smoke.

I suppose the threat of recall MIGHT pressure the gov't to make more of an effort to listen to you, but it doesn't seem likely that it'll cause campbell to change his views. It sure didn't with clarke.

Is there NO better way to try to institue REAL change? I can think of a few that seem like they'd have a better chance.

Is it just another way of expressing frustration? Or am i missing something?
