 Danielle, I believe my Dad, John Warholak, was at Camp Sampson about the same time. He was from Clifton, N,J. and was only 17, needed his parents to sign for him when he enlisted. He went for training as a radioman and went to the Pacific Theater, participating in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Phillipines. I have an original teletype message where he morse coded a message telling of how his ship shot down a kamikaze plane only 50 yards off he port beam and saw the pilot floating. Also another message is congratulating all the sailors for VJ Day as they sailed into Pearl Harbor. Maybe they knew each other. I also spent 6 years in the Navy from 1972-78 and am a disabled veteran now from injuries on my ship. John
