 I, and about 1,800 other Marines were jammed on this ship in 1952. The Botetourt had a reputation in the Marine Corp as being one of the most despised ships in the Navy. It was obvious that the naval crew did not like Marines and they showed it in not so subtle ways over the the months we Marines were on her. We made landings on Crete and Malta. If any other Marines in H&S Co. 1st Bn. 8th Marines at that time, I would like to here from them (old ex-Marines).
