 Hello. My father was also on this ship. He talked of many events that occurred. The ship went through a typhoon prior to the Battle of Okinawa, during which my father was at the ship's helm. He also talked of the ship being struck by kamakazis of which he witnessed the pilots burning inside. She ship's crew also went to Nagasaki 2 weeks after the a-bomb was dropped on the city; this event is not recorded in the captain's log. He made friends with a Chinese captain who had been a POW, and was being transported somewhere -I will need to ask my father.
These men should not be forgotten as they braved situations ordinary people may not tolerate.
