 The date is the day the picture was taken - usually a couple of weeks before the Company finalized training and the men were transferred to OGU (outgoing unit).
It would make sense to take multiple pictures on any given day.

There were over 4000 Companies between 1942 and 1945. 1942 had the fewest as the camp was still being built. Company numbers were 100-199, 200-299, 300-399, 400-499 and 500-599 with the numbers being reused over and over up to 7 times. (it may have been 501 not 500 as starting number - I am not sure).
