 My step father, Richard Rodecker, got to bootcamp at Sampson in Feb. 1943 . Unfortunately he died of a heart attack in 1970 . He was a 2/nd class motor machinist mate on the LCM's on board the USS PROCYON AKA 2 . His older brother , Eddy, was a tin can sailor aboard the USS Arron Ward DD 483 which was sunk off Guadalcanal Nov.43 . If you were his company commander I'm sure he would have remembered you because I haven't forgotten mine Great Lakes Sept. 1960 company 503 1/class petty officer , Willie Williams , one squared away salt..God Bless .
