My Father George Edwin Marston EM3c V-6USNR had his training at NTS Sampson, NY in 1945. He was sent to Shoemaker CA and was assigned duty on a ship USS LST 1000 from Dec 3, 1945 to April 12, 1946. He participated in the Occupation and Repatriation of China and Japan. I would like to know if there is anyone out there that recognizes his name, or may have been on this same ship during this period of time. I don't know what the name of the ship was, or what his company # was and I haven't been able to find out where to get that info. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance for your assist!
