My father, Melvin Krueger, was a crewman on the USS Montrail during WWII. He spoke very little of his Navy days, until after my mother passed away in 2003. He sat one night with me and my daughters and talked about it. He told us that, since he was slim-build, the "other guys" used to have him go through the ducts on the ship to the Captain's(?) cabin and get into his liquor cabinet and bring it back for the men. They never got caught.

Dad passed away in 2004. I think it might be him in pic no. 2 of the crew pics (of 3 crewman) on this site, the man on the left. Does anyone remember him and know if this is indeed him?
