United States Navy ship's log books from WWII are kept in the National Archives in College Park Maryland, located just outside of Washington, DC. The fee for copying per page is about .50 cents. BE FORWARNED!!: depending on the ship and how long they were in service the log(s), can be many pages and VERY EXPENSIVE to reproduce the entire book. It's best to ask for a specific time frame that you are interested in. also, it may take 6-8 weeks to deliver.
You can also request the ship's action report which compliments the ship's log. The first pages of the ship's log will usually list all crew member's who were aboard during commissioning.
Check out their website here: <a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.archives.gov/">http://www.archives.gov/</a>
