My father did his basic at Sampson and I knew Steve Bull since I was a kid. Steve ate, sleep and drank getting this museum up and running. I live within ten miles of Sampson and talked to two old salts in Florida who passed through Sampson. Small world.
I can remember the day Steve proposed this idea to the Seneca County Board of Supervisors.
My father was just shy of being too old to get drafted back in 1943, but the got him. I think he was the oldest on board LST 651. He'd be 102 if alive. passed in 1988.
Thanks to Steve Bull.
