 THE GOLD STAR REPRESENTED THAT A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY HAVING THIS GOLD STAR ON A SMALL WHILE FLAG WITH A RED BORDER, USUALLY DISPLAYED IN A FRONT WINDOW OF A HOME, IT MEANT THAT A MILITARY MEMBER OF THAT HOUSEHOLD HAD PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE FOR HIS COUNTRY. THE SAME SMALL WHITE FLAG WITH RED BORDER AND A BLUE STAR REPRESENTED THAT FAMILY HAD A MEMBER IN THE MILITARY STILL LIVING.
I AM THE WODOW OF A WW11 VETERAN AND REMEMBER THEM WELL. SAW ON THE NEWS THE OTHER NIGHT A FAMILY WHO'S SON IS NOW MISSING IN ACTION IN IRAQ AND IN THE BACK GROUND WAS THIS VERY FAMILIAR WHITE FLAG RED BORDER AND A BLUE STAR, PRAY THE STAR STAYS BLUE.
