In the "research links," there are links to the Government sites that will allow you to get your Dad's service records and copies of his medals.

It takes several months, but is well worth the wait.
You can also find shipmates on www.hullnumber.com and on reunion pages.

In October 2001 I didn't even know what ship my Dad was on.
I have since found 13 ship mates, 5 boot mates and a guy he worked with in Hawaii after Okinawa.
Two of the shipmates, one of the bootmates and the guy in Hawaii remembered him.

This internet is a great tool.
