Subject: Forgot to mention my dad's name...

 My father's name at the time was Francisco Nogueira. He was a Brazilian who fought for the US and gained citizenship after the war and then changed his name to Frank Dallas.

He chose Dallas because, in early 1942, his Brazilian merchant ship, the Olinda, had been sunk by a German U-boat and he and his crew were rescued by the USS Dallas.

That event was what precipitated my father's decision to join the US Navy to fight.
