You say that "most d3 schools have a larger fan base"
For one, that is simply untrue. Many D-III schools play in gyms that hardly seat 250, and most D-III schools are considerably smaller than Loyola, meaning fewer students and alums to appeal to. Sure, there are exceptions, but not many.

But I assume you meant it as hyperbole. And here is the real problem: You can not say that the Hicks years have done nothing to contribute to the situation here. Sure things began going down hill with Dino, but the truth is that Loyola was drawing well more than 250 per game as recently as a few years ago. Part of the problem with Hicks is that he has been unable to inspire the alums or the students to attend games. I will grant you that he took over a very difficult situation, but I think Anthony’s point is that a better coach might have been able to make more out of that situation so far, or at least not make it worse. Looking at the record and the turnout and the overall interest, things appear to have gotten worse under Hicks. No one expected us to contend for a championship by year three, but many of us were hoping the program would have a pulse.

I would not fire Hicks after 3 years, because I agree with you that some sort of continuity would help. But if we end up only winning five or so games again this year and I was a Trustee, I would quietly make a few phone calls. Change for the sake of change is not a plan, but it seems to me if we can get a good quality coach in here, and Hicks has shown no improvement, it might be wise to make a move.
