Sad as it is to say it, the administration does not seem to care, and for that reason there is no sense fans or students caring either. Personal agendas mean more than wins when it comes to selecting a basketball coach.

Want proof? Consider that Loyola's downward spiral can be blamed largely on nepotism. The last coach was picked partially based on his willingness to bring in an assistant who was married to the AD's daughter, a hiring based on the potential for a family reunion. The current coach was selected over three more qualified candidates based on the fact that Rev. Harold Ridley, Loyola's president, had presided over his wedding.

The day coaches are selected based on their merits, and not based on who they know, the program has a chance. Until then any success is going to be a happy accident.
