I was thinking the same thing about that Hopkins coach. Obviously I was far away and did not see the game, but the Catholic people were really upset with themselves over that loss. Poor shot selection down the stretch. But still, give Hopkins a lot of credit.

Sad as it is, as we have said, not getting the Loyola job might have been the best thing that could have happened to Lonergan. I still wish he was here, though. He grew up friends with Coach Cage, you know, and her dad was/is a big-time high school ref in the D.C. area. Small world.

I am standing by my prediction that Notre Dame wins the D-I National Championship thanks to Loyola, by the way. It is based on the belief that getting rejected by Loyola is the best thing that can happen to a basketball coach. Since the Hicks hiring, two of the three other candidates have cut down the nets: Lonergan and Jimmy Patsos at Md. The only remaining candidate we know of is Mike Brey's lead assistant at Delaware and now at Notre Dame. So the Irish it is!
