In all of her travels, Celes had learned one thing.

Her mind was a powerful thing.

If she forced herself to believe she was invisible, many people ignored her. And since she was dressed like a boy, and made herself think constantly that everyone saw a boy, many people saw merely a boy.

But never had she had to do it in front of dragonriders... Celes gulped and forced her stride to a normal pace. Dragons. They were the only ones she was in danger from. Dragons could hear her mind. Celes shut it off as she headed towards the boy's side hesitantly.
Invisible. she murmured to herself. A girl going into the boy's side. Celes sighed softly as she slowly and steadily made her way to the most deserted bunk in the Barracks. No one would join her there, certainly. Slipping into nightclothes, Celes crawled onto the bunk. She needed time to think, even though her stomach was grumbling softly.

Kessinth was to fly next, according to Avidail. A queen. Celes rested her head on her palm. Would there be a queen egg? Celes set her mouth. From the daughter of a Lord Holder to Queenrider? Celes shuddered. The two positions were much the same. As her father's daughter, she had to be polite to everyone. It was expected. And it was... was.... Celes couldn't think of the words. Maybe.. it was like that those of higher rank needed to be polite. Show they could get along with everyone, even though they didn't want to. 'Twas their life.

It was all false. Celes didn't want to be false anymore. Bao, awake now, trilled comfortingly.
"But I am false, Bao." Celes sighed, wrinkling her nose. "Just being in this room, I'm false. Accepting the Search, I was false." Celes leaned against her pillow. Too much had happened today, too many lies were spoken.

She was Lady Celeste, a female.

Not Candidate Celes, a male.

Oh, the world was so complicated.

"Maybe I should've stayed home." Celes murmured, but all three flits protested. "You're right. Wouldn't have you three if I stayed home." Celes said sleepily. "But at home. At home I was worse off. And here, I can actually do what I wish. We can actually help." Celes smiled wearily. "We'll just have to see what tomorrow brings, won't we?" With the three flits cuddled around her, Celes drifted off to sleep. Yes, she was better off here, even though she was weaving a most intricate web of lies. Who knew? Maybe, with the Hatching of Kessinth's clutch, she could cut through the web. In her sleep, Celes laughed at herself. She was getting almost months ahead of herself! Kessinth hadn't even flew, by Faranth!

But dreaming didn't hurt anyone, and 'twas dreaming that made her a Candidate.
