"I would hope that Rove would be punished for everything. However, it is looking like something akin to purjury or obstruction of justice seem like more likely sought after charges."

"It is often not the initial crime which is harder to so much easier to prove."

Hello again. I sure hope you and your son are doing very well.

Yes, in a perfect world with lots of extra money in a booming economy to conduct the investigation to get to the bottom of this Rove scandal (about $150 million) in order for him to, basically, be tried for treason this should happen. Of course, very few of the above conditions are going to be met. Bush's justice department won't go after Rove and, practically, "throw him under the bus" ending his career as a political strategist since they & the remainder of the GOP need him to help with the next big elections--the House and Senate '06 campaigns.

You would think Bush/Cheney would just fire him and cut their losses with Rove as a potential liability during the 2008 Presidential sweepstakes with no clear incumbent, as it was in 2000, but they always play the "we have never made a mistake" game.

Finally, I believe most of this will end up blowing over for Rove at first, but he will be caught in covering up this scandal; intimidating potential witnesses, hiding and shreading documents, etc. and will not survive that firestorm. As it usually goes, it's not the origional allegations that does someone in politically, it is the embattled person covering up and creating investigative roadblocks giving the appearence of impropriety that ends up destroying them.
