1) WAY TO GO POP!!!!! Figured out the ole voy forum. Good for you.

2) Excellent post Pat. Exactly my sentiments.

3) My feelings, and they are only mine, you are free to disagree without fear of retribution (here, try this reed, heh, heh, heh ;-), is that I will go along with whatever the band manager thinks is best; bearing in mind:

a) This day for the ACPB is traditionally one of merriment and good cheer. I don't know that anyone WANTS to do the job.

b) That is an aweful lot of playing, especially after having just marched 2.5 miles, playing most of the way (big crowds, etc...), and having to play two more jobs that evening. Maybe we could offer to play a short (standard) show at the regiment, then bust back out to our usual haunt. It would probably only set us back about 2 hours, and I don't think that is too much to ask. The regiment asks very little of us....anymore.

c) I spoke with Frank Riggio at the last band practice. He advised me the regiment was planning a huge shin dig to celebrate, like, their 150th anniv or something. It was scheduled for Sept 14th I believe. In light of the events that took place, they cancelled it. But...they raised a ton of $$$ and I know they're using it for this dinner on St. Pat's Day. I think it would serve us well to play for them, for free, on a day they have planned for a celebration. If we don't, and they get another band to do it, who's to say they're in and we're out next year? The goodwill we could generate with the regiment would pay nice dividends in the future should we ever need to call it in, so to speak.

Again, I'm just one person with one vote. If you don't want to do it, just say so. You can even use a pseodonym ("DaPiper" comes to mind) so I won't know it's you.

Overall, I don't want to do the job, but I think it's in our best interest to do it, with a smile and a "thanks for having us" on our faces. Maybe we could work it out where we play a standard show at the regiment only.

One thing I would like to avoid is having the band decide to do it, then having individuals advising they can't make it. If anyone has plans already made for after the parade, and can't alter them to fit this into their schedule, please speak up here and now. Thanks.
