Subject: SAD LITTLE GUY FOUND

Hi everyone,

Last week a saw a sad, little guy standing on a country road near my home in Texas. I have passed these dumped dogs before only to see them as road kill the next day. As I wasn't hurrying off to work this time I turned around and picked him up. (Get your Kleenex now) This fella is a skeleton in a fur bag! Someone has starved him near to death! I was appalled. The next day the vet said we will start on wormer and vitamins and see if he will gain weight. He said if the dog lives two more weeks we can vaccinate him and see if anything else is wrong.

I have no idea on how someone can treat an animal this way then set them beside the road to be hit and die. I already have 2 dogs: a small eskimo mix and a little fox terrier. My 2 year old granddaughter also lives with me so I am EXTREMELY reluctant to give this little, guy a permanent home. I have read pit bull information extensively in the past 2 days. The people that love them REALLY love them and consider them safe but the people who fear and loathe them are adament that they should not be kept with kids or small dogs. Be that as it may....I work 10 hour days and don't have enough time to interact with my own two dogs let alnow devote the time and training that this guy will most likely need.

He has been eating everyday and drinking water. I have given him the wormer meds and the vitamins as directed. Yesterday he ate a puppio treat. When I left for work today he was eating a rewhide chew spread with peanut butter. He walks around gingerly. His leg may be dislocated but the vet was hard pressed to really even examine him in this awful condition.

I found Spindletop on the web and plan to see if they will put him on their adoption waiting list when he is healthier. He is a full blooded pit bull black-brindle with white feet and white markings on his head and neck. I hate to send a picture as he looks pathetic now. The vet suggested before & after as he will most likely be a beautiful dog with a little TLC. He has bright and healthy but sad eyes.

Would anyone like to be considered as an adoptive home when he is well? The vet says he is about 6 months old but small from malnutrition. He has been very gentle around my dogs and grandchild but of course is very weak now.

If you are interested please send me an email and I will keep you posted on his recovery. Thanks.

Ellie
