One or both dogs might make good drug or bomb detection dogs. Try contacting the German Shepherd Rescue of New England Working DOg Program and asking what the dog's abilities have to be to make them good canidate's for this type of work. If they aren't, then consider fostering at least Puma to get her out of the shelter enviroment. If this is not possible find someone to foster. This will alleviate Puma's depression of being in the shelter while you await the right home for her, and you can bring her back to the shelter on the weekend as this is the time the majority of adoptions take place. If they run out of time find a no-kill shelter to take them. Good luck and thanks for caring!!!
