I appreciate the reply. The "trainer" I talked to was a behaviorist, actually. I never considered the possibility of an ear infection. I guess I just sort of assumed that since 99% of the time she is sweet and happy that it wasn't health related, but I will definitely ask the vet to check for any physical causes before we proceed with what seems like our last option. I know that Pits can be very loyal loving pets, my husband previously had another that just died last year after 16 happy years with him (old for the breed I hear) We are trying to come to terms with the concept that perhaps this actually is the most loving thing we could do for her. The idea that at any time she could snap and really hurt someone and end up in quarintine at a shelter for 10 days and then be put down anyway perhaps feeling abandoned and unloved in the end is what is motivating us in this direction. My husband is brokenhearted. BTW, today is his birthday :-( , awful, huh. The vet is coming tomorrow at 3:00, barring some physical ailment I guess I am hearing the same thing everywhere I go, that she is probably the outcome of some very bad breeding, and we have only one choice left. I am going to try to look at it as one last act of loyalty to her. Thanks again for your kind words.
