I am thinking about adopting a cat. I have had Cinder (AmStaf 50 lbs. female) for about 2 years and she is 2.5 years old. I live in an apartment complex. Every time she sees a cat she wants to go for the kill. I know she can be gentle to smaller animals because I fostered a Chihuhahua (sp) last year for two months. They were best buds.

I am afraid that Cinder, being the only child and the attention hog that she is, will become jealous and therefore destructive if I get a cat. I keep her on the porch during the day and inside when I am home. She is rarely destructive alone in the house.

If I do decide to adopt a cat should I get a kitten or full grown cat? Should I keep the cat in a kennel and let the dog and cat get to know each other? I dont want the cat to become terrorized and therefore hate me and the dog. Any suggestions would help. Thanks
