If you give her away, you are only giving away the problem. You say this behavior did not start until her last heat. That should be your first clue why she behaved in this manner. She has raging hormones and she is more territorial. She needs to be spayed for her own health and safety and the safety of those around her, including your own children. (Unaltered dogs account for the highest number of fatalities.) Depending on the circumstances of the nip (was she leashed, was she on your property?) the parents of this child may have no grounds for pressing charges or demanding the fate of your dog, especially if it was just a nip and the skin wasn't broken. Offer to the parents that you will have your dog spayed and will continue with her training. Consult with a lawyer to see if these people have a case should they insist on giving you further problems about keeping your pet.
