Subject: Election Day

Well, today is the election day of the Japanese Parliament. In the last few days there had been lots of noises from election loudspeakers. The funniest one (or at least I think the funniest) I heard was 'Ladies and gentlemen, we are the Communist Party....' Then the 'red' (probably only a wash of pink now) candidate went on to complain the sex and violence on the TV......
Yes, there is little control of sex expression on Japanese TV (It's nothing if you've got used to it), but violence is much milder than HK TV.
I have received a campaign mail from the Communist that explains they are not advocating revolution. And they are not the same Communist Party as the one in China. What's the difference with the socialists?
Generally speaking, the Japanese are not very interested in politics. That's why the LDP can stay in power for so long. However, contrary to the stereotype on many people's mind - Japanese does not like to obey the government's decision. The kind of propaganda of Japan is moving to militarism only shows the ignorance of the speakers and believers. Of course, many choose to believe in this, just like they choose to believe there is a Supreme Being watching them up there.
I have always interested in reading history books. Recently I read some accounts on how Japan slipped into the Second World War - unbiased studies. The scenerio was not quite the same as what we had learned from school. In fact, it was OUR history books distorted and oversimplified facts to mislead the students.

I know you don't like to hear this, but I believe we should be fair and objective. What is fact is fact.
