Subject: Succulent growing medium

As an absolute novice with an interest in Semperviviums, i was planning to plant up a small raised bed to grow several varieties, and thought i would plant other succulents to fill in the gaps. I was going to use a commercial Cacti and Succulent mix from a local nursery, however after viewing the CSS Australia website i was advised that Echiverias, for example, do not like such mixes. Am confused....is there a place where information on the likes and dislikes of the different succulent groups are made clear ?
Help please............
