The best way to obtain most useful answers to questions such as this is to read one or more of the popular books so freely available at one's local library or bookstore. Only then will you be in a position to ask more-answerable questions. If possible choose a book that focusses more on cooler climate succulents such as Aeonium, Echeveria, Sedums and others in the Crassulaceae family. Some of the Rudolph Schultz - Atilla Kapitany series of Australian C&S books would be excellent starters.
C&S Societies should focuss on pointing persons towards useful resources not trying to oversimplify many faceted subjects such as this on their homepages. The Internet is a truly wonderful source of information but one must learn to ask for resources for learning, not for simple answers as this forum so adequately shows.
Regards Didge.
