Subject: cyclists belong on the road, not the sidewalk

on my morning ride (ride to the gym, swim, ride home; doing another sprint tri in 2 weeks), multiple people honked at me - as if to say i shouldn't be on the road. one lady leaving the mcdonalds at a particularly tricky intersection, procedded to honk at me while passing me in the right-hand turn lane shouting "sidewalk" and pointing at said sidewalk. she then reached for her bag of fries as she turned right without stopping at the red light.

this is a cycling board, so I'll be preaching to the converted, but cyclists are supposed to be in the road. learn the laws of your state, county, province, city and follow them. cyclists cannot and should not choose what rules to follow, nor should motorists. that said, ride/ drive safely and protect yourself. but, don't get mad at me when i'm following the rules. i don't run red lights. i don't cross the double yellow line. i am aware of my surroundings. motorists should do the same.

if you don't want cyclist on the road, vote for candidates who will be willing to put that on their platform. lobby. start a website, something like: www.stop-the-evil-healthy-environmental-cyclists.org/getthemofftheroad.html

i know, i know, we go through this debate all the time, but i think it is worthwhile.
