This autumn, Landis will celebrate his 29th birthday. I'm sure he wants a shot at proving himself a major contender and so it is entirely understandable that he is leaving USPS to give it his best shot. Indeed it seems he made up his mind well before the TdF. What is surprising to me is that he chose Phonak where he will have no more chance to shine individually than he had at USPS. Or maybe he's gambling that Tyler will fall off once too often and he'll inherit the TdF leadership role. Good luck to him though. As for Popovich, he is only 24 and has achieved a remarkable amount for his age. So Bruyneel is probably making a wise team decision going for the Ukrainian rather than Floyd (which maybe has upset Floyd a little, as Julian suggests.)
