I belieive Phonak is trying to built a team that can race all three GT's next season with a strong team leader, as part of the ProTour thing. Floyd might get the Giro all to himself while Tyler gets the Tour, not sure about Spain? With all the money they are spending , you got to wonder how much those hearing aids cost:)
Also Floyd is a few years younger than Tyler so he has a few more years to left in him. Maybe he's biding his time until Lance, Tyler, and Jan retire.
