Heras's odds went as high as 8.5 to 1 while Hamilton's stayed consistently at 2.75 to 1. I was shaking my head and wishing I allowed myself to play more than just the fantasy games. Apparently, there's little respect for the Spanish peloton. That's remarkable, considering that they're 2nd in the nations ranking and contesting their biggest home race.

i bet he'd be the 8 to 5 favorite

Yeah, Valverde still has a small chance. However, stage 12 is brutal and the finishing climb gives Heras a lot of options. The scary thing is, stages 9 and 10 weren't that favorable for Heras and it's only the 2nd week, yet Heras put some decent time into everyone. Imagine what will happen if Heras gets stronger as the race progresses (which he has done in almost every GT). The hardest stages are yet to come. It could get really ugly.

As for Nozal, perhaps he'll be the captain for next year's Tour. He still has a chance to win either of the remaining TTs.

Anyways, it was good to see Piepoli, who was the best climber to not win a GT climbing stage, finally get one.
