Subject: Bonanza Wardrobe?

Hi there,
This is my last attempt at trying to figure out any information on the collection of clothes/hats that I have inherited. Over four years ago, I came across a bag of wardrobe pieces from the show Bonanza that my grandfather left to me. I know that he purchased them at an auction at the old sound stage, "Old Tucson" sometime during the mid, to late 1980's. They are all women's items. Every piece has a "Bonanza" tag sewn into it. In addition, some of the pieces have the initials "OT" written inside them, (standing for old Tucson) and some of the pieces have additional tags with "Warner Brothers Studios" and "Paramount Pictures" sewn in them. I have not been able to get any kind of information or find any kind of comparison to be able to compare to. The only small info I was able to get from a movie props store in Hollywood, said that both wardrobes from Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie where very rare, and hard to find due to the fire at Old Tucson in the 90's which destroyed nearly all of costumes for both tv shows. Does anyone out there know anything about wardrobe peices from Bonanza? Or someone that could guide me in the right direction? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi Rebecca....

You don't happen to have Jamie's hat in that there stuff, do ya? Heh heh... Sorry, I just always wanted his hat. I saw him once at the L.A. Sports arena back in the day when he and others were signing autographs and he was letting some girlfriend of his wear his hat all over the place.

I wanted to run up and grab it off of her noggin.

Sorry I cannot even come close to helping you with your questions.

Regards,

Trish

Can't help you with your question, but it does serve as a reminder about whatever may have happened to some of the more well known pieces of clothing/hats. Probably the 2 most well known pieces....Mike's Green Jacket, and Dan's hat.....both were seen practically each week after season 2, and were instantly recognizable. Wonder who has them, if anyone? Maybe their families?

I have been looking for Bonanza original items for years. I have found only a small amount of pieces. Most of the items were destroyed in the Old Tucson fire. Who knows what was really there.
I have Hoss' coat and pants from the first season. One of Ben's shirts. Many other supporting character stuff too.
I am assuming they had numerous examples. Michael Landon's family has nothing as they were looking for stuff a while back and i was contacted....
I know of one green Little Joe jacket that has survived and it was sold on ebay, darn i missed it, and it is now owned by a German collector. He said he would never sell it! Darn! Bonanza was very popular in Germany.

I am sure a few other pieces survived too, but they are scattered and who knows if they would get thrown out if someone did not properly document them. They would be hard to identify without a heads up. If anyone has anymore info to add, I would love to speak with them.
