Subject: Ponderosa Ranch, Incline Village NV
flyn posted this first, but I think it's worth posting again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpAO2VDJeyk
What disturbs me is that I don't think I see the Ponderosa ranch. From about 1:07 to 1:21 I think I see it below, but am not sure. I have been there several times as I live a short distance away. I have pictures: I should look them up. I believe it was located after the Western town replica. I think the ranch and the barn were the only unique items.
The only reason the Ponderosa was located in that location is that Bill and Joyce Anderson owned property there. If there was a real Ponderosa ranch, it would be down in Washoe Valley at the foot of the Sierra where large ranches exist to this day. Ironically I've never heard Washoe Valley mentioned on "Bonanza" althought the Cartwrights owned a large piece of it. I've heard Ben mention Carson Valley but it's two valleys south of Washoe Valley. Directly south is Eagle Valley, where Carson City is located, and south of tht valley is Carson Valley. Ben did not own any land in Carson Valley, at least according to the map.

It's there the guy just didn’t go far enough, you can see the Barn to the left just as he starts to turn back to the right and you can kinda see the house in the trees would have been nice if he would have went a little further to the end of the place.

Ranch Video -- Kayleetara, 18:11:53 02/13/13 Wed [1]
Better idea of the Ponderosa from the 2nd video. Thanks, flynn. Haven't heard anything about it lately, though I did read awhile ago in one of the local (NV) papers the ranch house was still there. There has been talk of reopening it, though nothing serious has ever been done. Saw they stuck a couple of photos of the real Virginia City in the video near the end. I have quite a few pictures of Virginia City too.

Your welcome Kayleetara & Joe.and it would make a good post card.
it would be good if they did reopen the Ponderosa not that there is much chance of me getting to visit it unless I hijack a plane.
hope you find the pics

flynn-(sorry for the misspelling of your name)I'll see if I can look them up for you. I'll either need your email or Rick's permission to post them here. I also have pictures of the *present day* Ponderosa, as I live in Washoe Valley, and if not on the Ponderosa, I am certainly one of those small neighboring farmers. My living room looks across the Ponderosa from a meadow to Slide Mountain and Mt. Rose.

One more thought---as Pernell Roberts was not dead by the time the Incline Ranch closed, there never was a tombstone for Adam, though the other major charaters had one, including Hop Sing. That means Ben saw two of his three sons die, and that one was: (on a ship) (in Australia) (studying at an European University) or (feel free to add the ones you've heard)

Cheryl, who is organizing the 2014 fan convention, is trying to include a tour of the "ranch house" as an extra. If you are interested in more information, go to bonanzaroundup.com

Cool. Thanks, Micth. I'll take a look. It's only half an hour away and I'd love to see it again. But take away that dummy of Ben. Scary AND ugly! If they can recreate the face of Richard III, surely they can come up with a better replica of Ben nowadays. I think they had Hop Sing in the kitchen too.
