Subject: LOCAL ANIMAL ADOPTION/RESCUE & FIREFIGHTER EVENTS Fall 2003 +

FUN LOCAL EVENTS - Philadelphia/Bucks County Pennsylvania-New Jersey regions.
Complements of:
Southeastern PA-NJ Dog Talk!
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SoutheasternPA_NJ_DogTalk
For Dog Lovers in Southeastern PA & NJ!!

MOST ARE ANIMAL-ADOPTION/RESCUE RELATED...
SOME ARE FIREFIGHTER RELATED
ALL ARE FAMILY FUN!!! Remember to support your volunteer Fire Companies. Their community events, Fire Musters and
October Fire Safety events can be a great opportunity to set up information and to introduce your local rescues and shelters to the community.

Here are some Philly-Bucks County PA and NJ local events that are so important to our animal caring communities. Please keep in mind that loving foster and adoptive homes are needed so badly for dogs, cats, rabbits and even horses who are in desperate need of temporary and permanent homes in our region.

Going to these rescue fairs and events will help you and your family learn about all the animals in need, what these magnificent volunteer rescuers do and how YOU can help with offering a home, needed funds and items that save these very adoptable animals need. If you are seeking a puppy, a kitten or have the smarts to adopt a beautiful older animal, please visit these fairs. I just adopted a 15 yr old Chihuahua from a local shelter and I love her to tears!

If you want to know anything about rescues, shelter and rescue animals and how they make wondeful pets, just ask me or anyone at these fairs. You will hear the most wondeful stories and see some of the most loving, special animals on earth. --Firewife (New Hope)

Pet Rescue of Mercer ( PRM )
http://www.petrescueofmercer.org/
We are an all volunteer, not-for-profit animal rescue group based in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, NJ. PRM rescues neglected abused and abandoned animals from local shelters by finding quality homes for them.

Every eleven minutes an animal is euthanized in a municipal shelter in New Jersey. Since 1997 Pet Rescue of Mercer has been changing that in a variety of ways. PRM strongly believes that euthanasia, as a solution to the problem of pet overpopulation, is wrong. It is a simple and archaic response that has no place in a humane society.

Sadly, the animals that are being routinely destroyed in Mercer County and around the country are not just the neglected or abused strays. Tragically, pets are routinely abandoned when families move, when landlords forbid animals, if the pet has costly medical problems, or when they simply fall out of favor. These are the animals we all need to take responsibility for. If you are an animal lover, put your love into action! Get Involved! Join Pet Rescue of
Mercer. Contribute your time, money or expertise. Campaign for mandatory spay neuter laws. Become a voice for the voiceless!

* SEE OUR CATS and DOGS!
View our animals on Petfinder.com!
http://www.petfinder-network.com/shelters/NJ83.html
Please visit us and meet many of our adoptable Dogs and Cats, every Saturday for Pet Adoption Days at the PetsMart on Route 1 South Princeton/West Windsor, NJ next to the Wal-Mart - 12 Noon - 3 PM

Volunteers are needed to help transport and handle our cats and dogs from local shelters. Remember, once an animal is in a NJ shelter, his or her days are numbered.
Please be aware that we post animals on Petfinders for MUNICIPAL NJ SHELTERS. THESE ARE NOT "NO KILL SHELTERS" !!!

These beautiful, adoptable animals are not kept very long, they have only days to find a new home, so you need to act quickly if you can adopt or foster.

* FOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED! Fostering means you temporarily house a dog or cat until a permanent home can be found. Fostering is an optimal way to save animals.
Animals selected for fostering are those at the highest risk. Many are in imminent danger of euthanasia at a municipal shelter.
