A 60-year-old Tasmanian man today pleaded not guilty to charges of bestiality.

Appearing in Hobart Magistrates Court, Ronald Joseph Smith, of Campania, north-east of Hobart, pleaded not guilty to one count of unnatural sexual intercourse and one of attempted unnatural sexual intercourse.

The charges relate to an alleged incident at Campania on May 6 this year with a Jack Russell terrier.

Magistrate Helen Wood adjourned the matter until August 28.
